REFLECTION
Parable of the Barren Fig tree:
The readings clearly shows the greatness of God’s love for His children. The Father created usto live as His children, to worship Him, to live out His commandment of love and most especially to bear fruit so we can fulfill the purpose of our existence. But many of us fall out of God’s grace because of sin. God has every right to punish us or “cut us down” like the barren fig tree. But because God’sgrace is greater than God’s judgement, He spared us sinners by sending His Son Jesus to save us. Like the fig tree, we are not capable of fixing ourselves on our own . We need Jesus Christ, the Master Gardener, to nourish our faith, to heal us from our brokenness and enable us to grow to be worthy children the Father created us to be. Jesus gave us His Holy Spirit to lead us, guide us and help us know and do the things God wants us to do.
We received the gifts of the Holy Spiritduring our Life in the Spirit seminar. Let us use these gifts to bring our brothers and sisters back to God’s grace. Let us continue to be living witnesses for Christ by manifesting the fruit of the Holy Spirit inour daily lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness. Fruitfulness means doing good deeds and living righteous lives as followers of Christ. The truth is , we only live on borrowed time here on earth and we are just a heartbeat away from the judgement of God. God is patient and kind and in His mercy always gives us time and more chances to change our ways. Let us take every opportunity to heedChrist call for repentance and renewal. Let us surrender ourselves and trust the Master Gardenerto make our spiritual lives healthy and bear fruit for the Glory of God.
